Yakuza Series Soundtracks Now Available on Spotify

The Yakuza series soundtracks are available now on Spotify, to celebrate the recent Japanese launch of Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

Have you had an overwhelming desire to don an eye patch and break into ’24 Hour Cindarella’? It looks like SEGA has you covered. Following the release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon in Japan, SEGA has released every Yakuza game soundtrack on Spotify. In other words, it’s karaoke time.

Noticed first by the Yakuza community on Reddit, the SEGA Sound Team artist page on Spotify has a handful of new additions and spotlights — specifically focusing on the broader Yakuza series. While none of the songs have overtaken the fan-favorite ‘Escape From the City’ from Sonic Adventures 2, it is phenomenal that SEGA is supporting the series as it continues to grow in the West.

But what does the soundtracks consist of exactly? Well, a bit of everything, no matter which game you like. For one, SEGA is supporting all of the following titles with dedicated soundtracks on Spotify:

  • Yakuza 0 (Side A/Side B)

  • Yakuza Kiwami

  • Yakuza 2

  • Yakuza 3

  • Yakuza 4 (Volume 1/Volume 2)

  • Yakuza 5 (Volume 1)

  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Even better, these don’t hold back on fan favorites. While my karaoke go-to is ’24 Hour Cinderella,’ we can also listen to both the Kiryu and Nishiki versions of ‘Judgement.’

It seems as though the Yakuza series and developer RGG Studios are having their glow up moment among the Western gaming community. With spinoff series Judgement winning critical acclaim (including being named Game of the Year 2019 by DualShockers), it’s easy to see that Western media is starting to warm up to the previously niche SEGA series.

Meanwhile, SEGA’s Toshihiro Nagoshi has started speaking on where he thinks the future of the Yakuza series is heading. Surprisingly, this might mean further development into the brand new RPG elements being introduced in Like a Dragon. You know, the ones that started off as an April Fools joke from RGG Studios?

In any case, Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be coming out in the West exclusively for PS4 sometime in 2020; as mentioned above, you can already grab the game in Japan and Asia right now. In the meantime, check out the amazing Japanese trailer for the game above for a quick laugh.
