Borderlands 3’s Anniversary Celebration Kicks off with Better Legendary Drops

The Celebration runs all month.

The original Borderlands came out on October 20, 2009, which means that the franchise has been marching along now for ten years. Gearbox is celebrating the landmark with an in-game Borderlands 3 celebration, which will give players five events with different kinds of loot bonuses. The celebration will run throughout October and through Nov. 4.

The first event is Boss Week, which will run until Oct. 8. The following bosses have an increased chance to drop unique Legendary items:

Mouthpiece has an increased chance to drop Gatling Gun

KillaVolt has an increased chance to drop Brainstormer

Gigamind has an increased chance to drop Nagata

Katagawa Ball has an increased chance to drop Rectifier

Katagawa has an increased chance to drop Legendary class mods (all Vault Hunters)

Rampager has an increased chance to drop Kill-o’-the-Wisp

Warden has an increased chance to drop Echo

GenIVIV has an increased chance to drop Ten Gallon

Aurelia has an increased chance to drop Creeping Death

Graveward has an increased chance to drop Earworm

Pain and Terror have an increased chance to drop Legendary class mods (all Vault Hunters)

Troy has an increased chance to drop Nova Berner

Tyreen has an increased chance to drop Bitch

The next four events are much more mysterious, with further details to be announced as they approach. Week 2 will be “Rare Spawn Hunt”, and will run from Oct. 8 through 14. “Show Me the Eridium” is Week 3, and will run from Oct. 15 to the 21st. “Mayhem on Twitch!” will run through Week 4, from Oct. 22 to 28. Finally, “Spooky Surprise” will be some kind of Halloween event from Oct. 29 through Nov. 4.

The full details of each week’s theme will be released on every Monday throughout October, but players can jump into Borderlands 3 this week if they want to try and get a lucky piece of loot from the current event.
